I saw a Siamese cat in Siam.... Thai episode 2
Thailand is a beautiful country, with beautiful Siamese cats.
Eat Tom Yum Coong soup once, and you will know that Thai food is spicy and sweet and sour and hot! ....just like LIFE ^ ^
Thailand is officially called "The Kingdom of Thailand".....yes, therefore the King has the supreme power, and the royal family itself is highly respected by it's people.
During my visit there recently, I was pretty much surprised to see that from 8pm to 8:15pm every night, a video clip that shows "Royal Family Today" is shown on EVERY channel, at the same time.
TV newscaster would comment "a member of the Royal family visited xxx city today, and celebrated the opening of xxx factory!" and the video clip of the "tape cut" would be shown.
Thai people respect King Bhumipol very much, since they all know that the king has done a lot for the people He is 80 years old now, and there are sings that says "LONG LIVE THE KING!" everywhere in Thailand today.
However, on Dec.5 2006, a Swiss Oliver Rudolf Jufer, 57 sprayed something on King's portrait in Chiang mai and was pleaded guilty recently. He could face a maximum 75 year prison sentence for insulting the nation's monarchy.
Of course the man has commited a crime, but I hope that he will receive some kind of amnesty.....'cos 75 yrs is just too long! ( He'd be...135 years old when released..)
Oh, btw, if you are living in Tokyo, never exchange your money from Yen to Thai Baht at the Narita Airport 'cos the rate sucks! (Chiba bank especially) I strongly recommend you exchange at MBK center or somewhere within BKK, 'cos it's much much better (dunno why ...)
